Gateway Foundation Hosting Open House Events in Honor of Recovery Month in September

Nearly one in 10 Americans aged 12 or older needed treatment for drug or alcohol abuse in 2009, yet a mere 11 percent of those who needed treatment—received it at a specialty facility. To help raise awareness of treatment options available to adults and teens for alcohol and drug abuse, Gateway Foundation Alcohol & Drug Treatment, the largest provider of substance abuse treatment in Illinois, will be hosting open house events at Gateway Foundation treatment centers located throughout Illinois during September 2012 in support of SAMHSA’s National Recovery Month.

Presented by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and its Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the goal of Recovery Month is to increase understanding of mental and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services to achieve recovery, and to help people recognize and seek assistance for these health conditions with the same urgency as any other health condition.
